High-risk or Counterfeit Parts Report<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Briocean has established two Quality Assurance (QA) centres, one in Shenzhen and the other in Hong Kong, covering an area of around 1,000 square meters each. With over 60 advanced professional testing equipment and more than 50 qualified inspection engineers, the centres follow a 3-tier international standard quality control (QC) process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To safeguard our clients\u2019 interest and to provide the latest market intelligence on high-risk or counterfeit parts, Briocean QA Centre has consolidated a report comprising of the intercepted parts from the Tier 1 and Tier 2 inspections. This report covers the month of February 2023 and subsequent reports will be published monthly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tier 1 Inspection Intercepted Parts List<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What is Tier 1 inspection? This refers to the first verification process of checking the labels and packaging by comparing the shipment labels with the original label in the Briocean label database. This inspection process is effective and can intercept up to 90% of counterfeit parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To provide you with a better understanding of how Tier 1 inspection works, we have also selected two labels (Infineon & Texas Instruments) from the intercepted list and included a breakdown of the differences identified by our inspection engineers.<\/p>\n\n\n

Upon receiving Infineon\u2019s BSS83PH6327 shipment label, we compared it with the authentic label in our database and spotted a few differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The differences:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Logo, font, serial code, part code: It can be clearly seen from the picture that the logo font, serial font on the supplier\u2019s label is bigger and different from the authentic label. The gap between the logo and serial number on the supplier\u2019s label is also smaller as compared to the authentic label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Layout: The spacing between the position information such as 1T, 1P, 9D and barcode is different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Environmental protection label: The anti-static label of abnormal labels and lead-free label are different in the overall size as compared to the authentic label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hence, it was concluded that this label carries a high-risk of being a counterfeit.<\/p>\n\n\n

Upon receiving TI\u2019s LM2936MPX-3.3\/NOPB shipment label, we compared it with the authentic label in our database and spotted a few differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The differences:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The logo and environmental label font on the authentic labels are more regular and the location of the labels are different from the supplier\u2019s label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Part number quantity position: The font of the authentic label and quantity is relatively consistent, and the gap between the top and bottom lines is relatively narrow. On the other hand, the font, position of the quantity number and DC also varies greatly on the supplier\u2019s label as compared to the authentic ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hence, it was also concluded that this label carries a high-risk of being a counterfeit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tier 2 Inspection Intercepted Parts List<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What is Tier 2 inspection? This refers to visual and marking inspection using the LEICA microscope with a magnification of up to 160x. This helps to inspect the interior and exterior sides of the component on its dimensions, scratches, polishing, breakage, or oxidation on the BGA. Visual & marking inspection is the most effective in intercepting counterfeit parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
